I began working with Dean Potter near the beginning of my career. When I was assigned to film a feature about Yosemite by National Geographic, I knew he would be an integral part of the story. He was always part genius, part madman, and all heart. Before his death, Dean pushed the progressive end of climbing and highlining for more than 20 years. When I asked what he wanted to do for the film, his first thought was to walk a highline over Yosemite Falls. It ended up being one of my favorite and most challenging moments from the shoot.
